Hello dhasdell,

The Carrier is HMS Ocean. However you have to download Arromanches first and then add the texture patch contained in the Sea Fury Update Zip.

There is also an option for HMS Glory. All three were Colossus Class carriers built in the UK at the end of and just after the war. :)

Perfect. I have Arromanches and had got as far as changing the deck letter, but only by day as I didn't know about night textures. This will save me a lot of trouble.

Thanks,

David

Hi David,

It was only done as a quick fix. Really it needs a better White Ensign and a more British looking Crew.

This may well happen in the next Version of the Sea Fury Update (V2.5)

Hello,

I hadn't even realised that the aerials would need changing as well. I made a very half hearted attempt on the flag, and as for those red bobbles - Bonjour, matelot!

So far I've only succeeded in crashing a Seafire, but I'm getting there.

Hey David,

If you find the aerials please let me know, I spent hours looking for those! B)

Maybe between us we could release a Whole Set including the early Majestic Class as well, including:

HMAS Sydney and Melbourne and HMCS Magnificent. I have most of the Crests collected ready. :)

I also have a Colossus Class Carrier moored in Asia ready for the next Sea Fury Update.

I know very little about these things, but I think that the aerials are R95-g and R95-h, with the model calling up one for daytime and the other for night, as with the "normal" and _L textures.

The more carriers we can have the better - the RN is very poorly represented, I think, with, as far as I know, only an Ark Royal pack, the Arromanches repaint and the "Inscrutable" in the Sea Hurricane download.

Yeah I totally agree.

Shame the authors of the Ark Royal Package can't convert it to an Eagle at some point.

Also wouldn't it be nice to have a whole Carrier Group from the fifties... :woohoo:

I don't think it would be very easy - one had a side lift. But I agree about a fifties/sixties carrier force, with Hermes and Victorious, and the Albions before conversion.

Re:Sea Fury carrier 6 years 6 months ago #18979

A Colossus Carrier Group would have only taken Joel Maillot (the builder) 10 mins to adjust the postion of the bgls. 30 min if he had wanted to alter the models to get three seperate Colossus Class in one scenery folder. Then maybe a hour or so to make the texture changes.

But I suppose he just wanted to model the Arromanches, being a Frenchman and theres nothing wrong with that, hats off to him for producing an absolutely outstanding model. Now its a little too much time & effort for him to dig out his development files and modify it.

To quote Joel:

.bgl

Joel Maillot

Which roughly translated is:

The aircraft carrier Arromanches was constructed with SFR Design studio V1.6 divided into many files .Api and it is impossible to put them all together (or merge everything) to make another .api without causing errors during conversions into .bgl files

What you ask me is a rather considerable job. Also, several software programs are used such as Airharbour for Windows and SFR Scenery Designer.

With all these hours taken on my various models over several years, I have no time to support them, nor enough patience to make these modifications.

Extremely sorry to disappoint you
Joel Maillot

The chances of someone else being able to build another Colossus Class in the next few years is almost nil so I suppose we have to be happy with what we have got. :)

How does one edit the bgl to move the carrier, then, to Korea, say, or Suez?

Unfortunately I don't think we can, short of decompiling and then altering the code.

But the maker of the ship model, Joel Maillot could alter it quite easily (at the time he built it).

Hope that answers your question. :)

Yes. Actually I have a Saratoga which claims to be movable. I'd better look into it.
