BEA Sea King Repaint 4 years 3 weeks ago #34445

Did I hallucinate this, or did someone once make a BEA repaint for the Alphasim FS9 Sea King? I'm in the process of recovering four-years worth of FS9 downloads following a so-called 'engineer' scrubbing my entire flightsim collection  , and I'm sure I once had this. Thing is, now I can't find it anywhere.

Although BEA obviously never operated the Sea King, they did have the S.61N, and this repaint was a good substitute. So, does anyone know where to find it???

Many thanks!

Hi Biffer

Welcome aboard :)

There was one...I think by Gerry Flores but I'm not sure if it was for the Aplha Sim or aome other model.

There is a BEA S.61N for 2002 but I'm not sure if it runs well in FS9

Yes there is a repaint for a BEA Sea King available in flightsim.com.
Maybe that model is now freeware from Alphasim?

Thanks, Gary! It was definitely the Alphasim Sea King that had the BEA repaint. I've done searches on several sites for 'Gerry Flores'; 'Sea King'; BEA; and every combination I can think of, but still can't find it.

David Hardcastle's S.61N was a good rendition for its day, but looks a little 'dated' now (no disrespect to Dave). This was the reason I used the Sea King repaint as a substitute. If it's not to be found, maybe I could try to shoe-horn Alphasim's cockpit into Dave's '61???

Cheers, anyway!

Thanks, Tony! As I mentioned above, if it exists, I still can't find it. Are you perhaps thinking of the Alphasim freeware Sikorsky S-55/Westland Whirlwind, which has two fine BEA repaints???

Cheers!

I just had a look in Alphasim's freeware, but it's not there.
The file that I downloaded from flightsim.com is "s61_bea.zip"
Those are just textures and I'm not sure what the master file is?

This aircraft (G-ASNL) has ported across to FS9 ok.
It is a stand alone aircraft and is displayed in the menu as Sikorski S-61N.
I am guessing that it might have had it's origins in FS2002?
I haven't flown it yet, difficulties in obtaining an engine start. I might have to step through a default aircraft?

Thanks, Tony, but we're talking at cross-purposes here. The file "s61_bea.zip" is for Dave Hardcastle's S.61N for 2002, whereas the BEA texture I'm looking for was made for the Alphasim Sea King for 2004.

BTW: if you're having trouble re-starting helicopter engines (any helicopter!), I've discovered that Ctrl.+ SHIFT + F4 works in all the ones I've tried so far.

Cheers! :cheer:

Sorry Biffer :(

The guy I was thinking of did have it but he thinks it's on an old PC that will not run now :pinch:

He has had a look on the others but it's not there and the time scale does fit with it being on the dead machine.

He does confirm it was Gerry Flores and it was for the Alphasim

At least you know it does exist, and have a little more information so perhaps it can still be found...somewhere.

If you do find it, drop a message here as I will continue to keep an eye our for it in the meantime

Ah, well, thanks anyway, Garry. Seems strange that this was the only one of my previous repaints that I couldn't find. Who knows, perhaps Gerry will see this and upload it again. In the meantime, I'll keep looking.

Cheerio the noo!

Hi Garry,

Thanks to the generosity of a forum member at HoverControl, I now have the BEA Sea King texture once more. :cheer:

I'm willing to help any BritSim members with a copy of this (assuming this doesn't infringe forum rules or Gerry Flores' copyright???).

Happy Hovering!
