Visit the Vulcan on 28 August 4 years 3 months ago #34690

Vulcan XL426 will be open to the public at London Southend Airport on Sunday 28 August
Visitors to the Visit the Vulcan Day will be able to walk round the huge aircraft and and climb inside the bomber's cramped five-man cockpit. Admission is £2.00 with under-16s free if accompanied by an adult. Cockpit visits cost an extra £2.50 for all ages.

Gates open at 10.00 a.m. and last entry is at 5.00 p.m. Refreshments will be available and a selection of our Vulcan souvenirs will be on sale.

Admission for Vulcan Restoration Trust members, including cockpit visits, is free.

The new Southend Airport station, just two minutes from the Vulcan, is now open and is the easiest and most convenient way to reach the airport, with regular services on the London Liverpool Street to Southend Victoria line. We have yet to finalise car parking arrangements with Southend Airport but visitors arriving by car should be aware that they may have to pay a separate charge to use one of the airport or station car parks.

The Lancaster Bar and Resturarant, next to the entrance gate to the Visit the Vulcan Day, will be open all day to Vulcan visitors for meals, light refreshments, drinks and teas and coffees. The Lancaster has a licensed bar.

A wide selection of gifts will be on sale from the VRT stand. We carry a wide range of Vulcan souvenirs and memorabilia, with something to suit all ages, tastes and pockets! Our range includes: books, DVDs, greetings cards, maagazines, Vulcan models, greetings cards, pens, pencils, sweatshirts, polo shirts, photos, flown souvenir covers and lots more. A selection of our souvenirs is also available to purchase on-line at shop.avrovulcan.com .

Please note that due to airport regulations we cannot admit any dogs or pets to our Open Days, with the exception of assistance dogs.

Tickets will also be on sale at the Open Day for our Flying the SR-71 and More talk by retired United States Air Force Colonel Rich Graham on 1 September (see separate News story). Tickets for this evening talk can also be purchased on-line at www.avrovulcan.com/index.php?option=com_...ew=wrapper&Itemid=52 .
