I like to see how another pilot flies a solo display.
Those yellow "X"'s at the ends of that grass runway are very good reference points for
the display line.
In UK,our display line and display centre are always on the opposite side of the runway to the
crowd line.
They take the form of a straight line of orange markers with a large cone to
represent display centre.
Rather than take off and immediately enter my display routine,I will normally take off
and head to a holding point away from the airfield and orbit until called in to my slot.

Actually the display line wasn't the grass runway, but the main runway, I didn't use the yellow X for the display!

You seems to know a lot about this kind of flying, what's your job?

Well,since you ask,I'm a paint sprayer by trade,but I've been an aviation
enthusiast and modeller for a good 40 years.

I leant to display by watching and chatting to display pilots on all types of
aircraft,but mainly with piston fighters.

The late great and much missed Hannas(Father and son Ray and Mark),
Pete Teichman,John Beattie,Cliff Spink and most of the BBMF fighter pilots
routines are all used as models for my own displays.

I mainly virtually display the Spitfire IX,XVI&XIX,Seafire XVII&47(I prefer the
power of the later Merlin and big Griffon engines),the Hawker Sea Fury,
the P38 Lightning,the Bf109G series and the Avro Lancaster.

I occaisionally do jet displays,mostly with classics such as the Gloster Meteor,
Gloster Javelin and the deHavilland Sea Vixen.
