I remember being shown a Lightning at Gutersloh in 1975 ish when I was an RAF cadet. The pilot said \"this is where I sit. In the nose is the electronics, at the back are the engines . . . . . . All the rest is fuel tank! This is the most inefficient form of transport yet built by man.\"

Rotation take offs at night are damn impressive.
