South Cheshire Militaire

#26358 3 years, 2 months ago
Went yesterday with cousin.

Didn't take any pics I'm afraid,my camera's knackered, but there was some hot models on display.

The big Airfix Mossie on sale for a show special of £100 and Tamiya's very fruity
1/32nd Spit IXc for £85.

There was a couple of Tamiya Spits built up and on display, very, very impressive
I can tell ye all.
If you're thinking of shelling out the readies for one, then do it,you'll not be dissapointed at all.
The big Merlin 66 is a real work of art.

Did I pick up any gems?oh yes indeedy,an Aeroclub vacform canopy for my Sea Venom,
an Aeroclub undercart set for my Special Hobby Sea Fury, now a real rarity,a fabulous 1980's C Scale conversion set for the Sea Mossie Tr.33 and the Sea Hornet NF.21,very handy.

Now the gem of gems, for half price(12 sovs) 'coz it wasn't boxed,a full resin CMK Seafire F.47,ha-har,bootiful.

Now where's Northern Knight Pete,I need to ask a Stretton question about the Seafire 47..................................

When I bought the Auster AOP two weeks ago, I saw the mossie sitting on the shelf, what a huge box!!!! very tempting, because it was about hundred pounds... But I still have so much to build...

don't want to tease my wife, because she promised me the German Famo with tank transporter... thats a gem too...

I've seen the big Mossie on sale at the original £125 asking price.

SWMBO thought she'd got off easily after I'd gazed longingly at it and then only spent £20.

Yeh the Mossie's box is big,it smiles at you and says "Buy me,you know you want to".

That big Famo is a real beauty Jan,there was a few sets of "link 'n' length" whitemetal tracks for 'em on sale Sunday but I didn't see a price.

A nice diorama would be a couple of those lovely Famos hooked upto a Tiger 1.

Talking of tracks, there was a couple of nice 1/16th KT's and one of the new 1/16th Jagdpanthers parked up on a display table.

They all had metal tracks fitted(dunno whose, there wasn't anyone at the table at the time)which looked superb.
The links were black but the contact tips of the grousers were worn to bright metal,
most realistic.

don't tease me with a R/C 1/16th!!!!

I would spent all my pocketmoney on one... but just finished the Tamiya Super Fighter G with loads of hop ups and carbon parts...so the mrs said: its enough for a while, don't want to have all those remote controls flying around the house...

but the mossie is still calling from a distance.... buy me... buy me....

Oooo,I'd love to spend big money on my Tiger,Asiatam metal lower hull with full torsion bar suspension,Asiatam metal suspension arms,Asiatam metal rubber rimmed road wheels,RC Command 3 to 1 stainless steel gearboxes,Kenny Kong sprockets, idlers and tracks, Tankzone track adjusters,CreepingDeath RC full recoil turret, the list is long and expensive.

Kenny Kong tracks, sprockets and idlers are touch over £200,the lower metal hull about £110...........................................

Since I built my own 3 to 1 gearboxes and did the Tx mod(moved throttle to left stick, steering to right)the thing has been driven relentlessly.
It's tracks are full of mud, whilst driving it last time out around the garden,it suddenly started to pull to the left and then the left gearbox's slipper clutch kicked in.

The reason?? there was so much mud on the left track that it had clogged between
the rear mudguard and track virtually stopping it from running......

And the big Mossie or Spit?,I daren't even go there.......

Yes, I discovered too that one can spend big money on upgrading things. Jasper wants a R/C tank. So I am looking for a decent Tamiya 1/35 scale one. They are really cute and well build. But then again the mrs will say: where to put all those controls

Can't really hide the mossie too, because of the size of the box....... Did you see the artists impression animation at Youtube? what a detail, what a parts. Never saw a model before that had the frame of the canopy as a extra part....

When I get over the problems with the Super Fighter G ball bearing (its still slips too much) I want to go brushless with the thing... Shear power that I will bring allong when we go over to the UK during the summer...

Yeah, those Tamiya 1/35th RC tanks are really nice looking little rascals, but expensive.

You'd buy an HL Walker Bulldog for less.
The Bulldog is reckoned to be the most reliable and best driving out of 'em all.
For Tam 1/35th money, you'd get one with factory 3 to 1's and metal tracks
if you look in the right places.
And the latest HL machinery has come on in leaps and bounds quality wise.

I've seen that big Mossie Yt vid too,it's quite an eye opener.

If that ball diff is still slipping then there's something wrong with it.
You sure it hasn't got a slipper clutch fitted to it??

That's like a big cog that the motor pinion drives, but is bolted to a shaft into the g'box.
It usually has washers and an adjusting nut on the end of it.

Type "Associated slipper clutch" or "Losi slipper clutch" into Google and you'll see what I mean.
I know they have one fitted in the B4 and XXX4.

I'd sort it out before going brushless or the Super G's box will be very quickly lunched!!!
