The Devon is a particular gem I feel.
I actually took some very close screenies of Del's Fs Dove/Devon for Kev(the model's builder)so that he could detail the undercart and wheel bays.
He's made a damn fine job of it.

Thought you'd all like the Devon,she is a corker.

If you want a Devon in your collection Jan,there a three ways to go.

1/Find the Rareplane vacform.

This is what Kev used to build his.
They do pop up on E-Bay from time to time and are a pretty comprehensive
kit,they go for anything upto £30.

2/Use the Magna resin kit.

I've heard mixed tales about Magna kits,but I know the Dove/Devon kit is one of their
best and can give a good result.
They retail for around £25 and can usually be obtained from Hannant's or direct from Magna themselves.

3/Convert from the old Airfix Heron.

The Heron is quite crude by modern kit standards(originates from the late 1950's),but is pretty accurate in dimension and outline.
To create a Dove/Devon from it requires a good set of plans and some very,very serious surgery.
A few have done it so it is possible.

Allerady found one on Ebay... 30 pounds indeed. I will wait until I have finished my tempest. There is quite some filling to do betwee root of left wing and the fuselage... its a Heller base-kit...

Keep a beady eye on it then Jan,you just might be lucky and get it for a good price.

Filling the wing root to fuselage joint?,never have that problem with fighters matey.

I thought I'd learned you the dodge with 'em?

It's very simple mate.
On most fighter kits,you have a full span lower section and
two separate upper panels,yes?

Make sure the upper panels fit the fuselage root fairing perfectly,
test fit,trim/sand as neccessary to get the fit right.

Glue the upper panels(one at a time)to the fuselage wing root joint,
paying special attention to their alignment and positioning and give them a few days to set up.

Test fit the lower full span panel,again paying careful attention to it's fit
both under the centre section and at the tips(be especially carefull with
Spits and their unique "gull wing" underfuselage).
Once you're happy with the fit,start at the centre section and run in the liquid glue.
Let things set up and then work your way out toward the tips.

Okay,it adds to your build time a little,but the result is no filling,no loss of panel lines and detail giving a great wing root fairing.
