A Spitfire of some description?

I must admit, the picture isn't very clear. its all so tiny in 1/72... its an aeromaster Tempest... more pictures will follow on this project. its the first time for me I work with resin...

here we go, a first fitting of all parts including the resin parts. P/E-parts not included yet. (flaps are P/E)

on the wingroot there is a huge gap. Mark allready tought me how to solve this problem.

That's a perfect candidate for the practice I've out lined to you Jan.
You might have to tweak the flaps and ailerons a touch to get them to fit
but other than that it'll work well.
If you think the uppers are going to be much shorter than the lower,
simply pack them out at the roots with thin plasticard before you fit them to the fuselage.
That way you can make sure the joint is spot on.

First job though is to sand those ejector pin marks off on the underside of the uppers
exposed section where the flaps are.
Also plug the gap between the flap inner ends and the fuselage so that you can't see up inside.

Check you references regarding the flaps though,I can't recall seeing a Tempest/Fury/Sea Fury parked with them down.
I'd say you'll be safe using a Sea Fury references for detailing the undercart bay,
the Fury/Sea Fury was originally developed as a "Light Tempest".

Seperate rudder and elevators are excellent,display the elevators at full down(don't forget to put the stick forward too)and a trick I do is to turn the tailwheel one way,
then deflect the rudder slightly the otherway so that it looks like the aircraft has turned onto it's "spot" and the pilot has booted opposite rudder(differential brakes)to stop
in position.
It just depends whether you're left or right handed,a right handed pilot will always turn right in his dispersal,a left handed pilot will turn left(think about it,you'll realise it's true).

If you need references for the Tempest(there's not many in captivity),then give our Rich a quick shout.
The Tempest/Fury/Sea Fury series are firm favorites with him,so I'll be surprised if he hasn't any info on them.

There's an excellent Tempest web site knocking about, I'm surprised no one has repainted the Mk. 6 thats a freeware sim model, it would quite easily pass as a Mk. V ( Closterman, Beamont etc). I've a couple of Tempests in my model collection, one is the 1/72 nd Academy Mk Vkit which is very good but the decals are garbage and an old Matchbox Mk.2 which is silver overall with a black anti glare panel and blue spinner it is in 33 Sqn markings with blue codes she just looks the dogs ********.

ALways liked the Tempest has that purposeful Hawker look about it

tonight I am going to glue together the fuselage halves.... new pictures without tape will be available then... the radiator with some P/E-parts will be fitted also then

first coats of paint are on... gaps are filled the Miggers-way...

that is a beautiful airframe Jan

As I said I have always had a soft spot for the Tempest.

btw going on wreckage hunt this summer in the Dark Peaks together with Anneke and Jasper... spotted a Belnheim and a Wellington allready on Google Maps well within 7 year olds-walking range

So the old wing fix worked well ,simple isn't it.
I learned it from a bloke who'd converted an Airfix 1/24 scale Mk1 Spit to a
Mk IX.

The old Heller XIVe still makes a nice model too.
