As the old 3COm-racing ball diff didn't work for me at all, I put in the Tamiya ball diff... Yesterday we went out testing in nearby woods

Amamzing how eight year olds always react the same way when an RC car or aeroplane come at them..the little backwards dance -- Tag does the same thing.!!!

Novak ESC to throw up more dust.

I took mine from this:



to this last summer:

Fitted onto a "pukka" Mardave Cobra lightweight alloy race chassis with a Cobra
front end on it(longer arms and suspension mount).

And then to this just after Christmas:

Now clothed in a Cobra body shell and wing and fitted with JC Racing RC10B4
lightweight five spoke wheels.
They took a bit of work to fit,ended up modifiying a pair of RC10B2 front axles
to fit the front uprights and making spacers for the rears to preserve the width.
Just waiting for a modified Cobra gearbox(uprated internals and slipper clutch fitted)
to turn up along with a pair of HotBodies D4 UJ drive shafts so that I can run big horsepower.

Hee-hee.

I slipped the vintage 19 turn(Parma Cyclone Modified)in I have
for the new gearbox today(day's holiday from work).
I always use Parma motors,I used to race them BITD.

Still waiting for the new'box to come,but I thought I'd give that bad old motor
a whirl and see how it went,it's had it's comm skimmed and a rebuild,so I
was expecting good results.

Man,I wasn't dissapointed,a quick whizz on the motor tester,a touch more advance
on the timing(the guy had set it up to zero,I took it to +8 degrees),on with a 12 tooth pinion
and slot it in to the gearbox.
Connect up and "blip" the throttle(heh-heh-heh),put it on the floor aiming into the
living room and nail it(wwwhhooo-hhhhooooo).

We have a tiled kitchen floor and a polished wood floor in the living room,the thing
wheelspun for about 15 feet ,I had to hit the brakes and pull a 90 degree
half donut sliding turn(full power to break traction,flick the steering and straight
onto opposite lock)before it rammed the radiator at the far end of the living room
to come rocketing back to me in the kitchen:woohoo: .

I LIKE IT .
It's like taking a 150hp engine out and dropping 500hp in:blink:

I'd raced a 19 turn Cyclone Modified 20 years ago,but that was in a 4WD
Optima Mid Custom,with 2WD you're not driving a front gearbox,so you
have lots more power to play with.

Hoo-hoo,it's going to be good fun;)

I hope my gearsbox can cope with such a monster... Brushless it will be indeed but be carefull on the throttle

Go here mate and ask the questions:

Make yourself a member(it's free unless you want to be a fully paid up club member),
go into the forums and ask if any one has put brushless power into a Super G/DT02.

They'll tell you whether the 'box can take it and what to upgrade so that it'll take
the power better.

She's back on a Parma Cyclone Stock to partly to settle the diff in and also because
that 19t is a bit too frisky for the garden.

quite busy at the office... can't even make enough starts at the gliderclub.... Jasper asked if you would have the buggy in camo-paint I like it a lot... perhaps I will consider a upgrade in a more powerfull brsuhless engine as well....

Tried mine with big power,it goes very well for a couple of minutes until the
bloody diff looses it's adjustment and slips like crazy.
I need to take it to bits and have a look at what's going on in there methinks.

Got shot of the old Mardave gearbox and fitted a modern Ansmann Mad Rat 'box instead.
No diff problems now .

I've also just bought another two motors for it,a TMS Challenger 17turn double and
another 19t,but this time a classic one,the awsome Trinity Komodo Dragon.

The Komodo really was one of the motors to have BITD,so it should really rock now.
