Thought you'd like those Leif.
Would this be Phil Lucas driving the Tiff?

I reckon you're right about Rearsby too.
If it isn't,there's a lot of Austers lurking in the grass.

yes Leif - that's Reasby
The giveaways are the old clubhouse and the original club hangar just showing behind the plucky Auster.

Wasn't Ratcliffe an ATA Pool? I thought my father ferried a few Austers out of there in '45. If so how did they get there - hopped over the fence from their first test flight I suppose.

Ratcliffe was owned by Sir Linsay Everard (he of brewery fame) who allowed Taylorcraft to test-fly their completed model plus-C's there in 1939.
The airfield was then taken over by the Ministry for the A.T.A.
Taylorcraft then moved to Rearby where they had much more space for new hangars etc. They also bought about nine other premises around the area because by then they were engaged not only in building Austers but also much aircraft repair work.

BTW - Sir Lindsay didn't live in the large hall directly to the south of Ratcliffe, he lived in a much more humble pile (a.k.a. the manor) across the main road.
